There's nothing so aromatic as home grown pepper, piper nigrum! We're lucky to have some vines at our place in Ella, Sri Lanka and are hoping to plant more. Pepper is a vine which needs a host to climb up. One of the best here is glyricidia, a well known low shade tree used in tea plantations. In this shot you see mostly the young strings of berries, although towards the top near the middle, you can see a few older larger berries. Berries are plucked when ripe and dried in the hot sun.
