A Nyangatom shepherd/warrior arrives at a peace conference. The scars on his chest commemorate having killed an adversary in the bush, most probably while out stealing cattle or defending his own. Cattle raiding is endemic in the area and leads to frequent tension and bloodshed among the many neighbouring pastoralist communities.
