I was standing at about 12,000 feet above sea level. Trees no longer grow but give way to a delicate ecosystem of alpine grasses and flowers. Two hikers are in the distance on a small rise and seem to be alone with the majesty of the Rocky Mountains. The continental divide is blanketed in clouds.
