Wall of Stories
The rock wall that runs along the pier in Skagway, Alaska includes paintings of ship names that have visited the port. This shot shows a small section of this rock wall. Near the top center is a faded painting with the name USS Kishwaukee. I looked this ship up and found that it was a gasoline tanker that served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. It was sold in 1978 and became a fishing vessel before being scrapped in 1997. Just imagine the rest of the history represented by the other paintings.
