This duckling was all alone poking around the banks of the Brandywine River, but clearly it already knew how to swim and forage. Although the baby must have hatched within the past couple of days since it still has a prominent egg tooth, the mother was nowhere to be found. This is an amazing example of newborn instincts at work. I look forward to visiting this curious feather-baby as it grows.
