The Houghton Lake Flats is a Michigan Department of Natural Resources managed wetland area. Lush with wetland vegetation and abundant wildlife, such as muskrats, raccoons, mink and river otters all of which live there year round.Several bald eagle nests are located in the vicinity of the Flats and eagles are often observed.
