West Point Marches into the 21st Century
West Point was founded in 1802, and began admitting women as cadets in 1976. Today, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is on the move, with women cadets fully included in the Long Gray Line. Of the 1007 cadets who graduated from West Point in 2013, 137-- one of whom is seen here marching into Michie Stadium for the ceremony-- are women. Upon graduation, both male and female cadets will become commissioned officers-- Second Lieutenants-- in the United States Army.
