Ukrainian volunteer, quadruple amputee Vadim Sviridenko, in the hospital for burned plagues in Kiev, 2015. VS´s story is one of unbelievable unluck, or luck, depending on the angle you look at it. Joining the Ukrainian National Army as a paramedic his van was hit by rebel artillery fire near Debaltsevo. As a lone survivor he was projected out of the van and lay for a couple of days in the -25°C cold. His batallion comrades thought he was dead and were too afraid to try to retrieve him.
