Aletsch, the biggest glacier in the Alps
In the beginning of July 2016, I spent a night up in the Alps, staring at one of the most beautiful glacier on earth.
The entire structure of the 23km-long piece of ice is visible from the Eggishorn, a closeby summit, at an elevation of 2950m.
It is 3:30am on July 8th when the Milky Way arches over Aletsch. First light of the day is rising to the east, with beautiful patches of cirrus clouds overhead and a sporadic meteor in the center.
It was a night of silence and contemplation.
