Maiko and geisha are highly trained women in Kyoto who pride themselves on their finely honed skills in the art of entertaining. Our charming maiko for the evening at Gion Hatanaka allowed us to admire her delicate yet extravagant updo set with kanzashi hairpins, framed by a traditional red collar and vividly hued kimono. An absolute delight, this moment reminded us that details really do matter - and Japan focuses on precise, exquisite details like almost no other place in the world.
