Lemon-Rumped Tanager - Mindo Ecuador
When a favorite "Pico Pico" tree of the Lemon-rumped Tanagers (Ramphocelus flammigerus) fell from the weight of the leaves and fruit, I salvaged the branches, orchids and bromeliads and sculpted them into new feeding areas. The Lemon-rumped Tanagers quickly learned to expect their morning fruit, wired to old sections from the tree! This Lemon-rumped Tanager is quite different in color from its Colombian cousin featured in Asher's post, Birding 101. (PIco-Pico tree - Acnistus arborescens )
