This is a handheld shot taken with a small Canon "ultra-zoom" digital camera, while standing next to a busy 4- lane highway. The nest is in a large electric power transmission tower, situated in water backed up from Wheeler Dam on the Tennessee River. Since this shot was made, another osprey family has built a nest in the adjacent tower. We counted 5 young birds this spring.
