According to Wikipedia 90% of the nesting pairs nest on an Island off Baja California in the Gulf of California. Since so much of the population is subject to the vagaries of El Nino conditions they are considered "near threatened." This one followed, even landed on, our small sailing craft for quite a while, looking to share our lunch I imagine. Not camera shy and not noisy. An enjoyable companion.
