Mystical Glow
The 2 hour climb up to the Abuna Yemeta Church in the Gheralta Mountains in the region of Tigray, Ethiopia was so worth it. The rock-hewn churches of Tigray are a UNESCO world heritage site. They were carved in precipitous locations, many on the side of steep mountains in the 6th - 13th centuries. Reaching them often require a steep hike and locating a priest who keeps the only key to the still active churches.
