The Waihee ridge trail is known for being a bit perilous, as it winds up a ridge with steep drop offs and slippery mud. These orange pools greeted me as I began to navigate uphill from the trail head. The striking contrast was beautiful but from there the mud really never ended. The trail was breathtaking, offering views of the coast and open ocean as well as forested valleys.
