An adult Northern Hawk Owl is a medium size owl with long tapered tail, and short wings. The white face has a black border and many white spots are found on the forehead. They like to nest in the cavity of a tree and no structure is built in the nesting area. Their food is small mammals, which includes voles. This medium sized owl is neither nocturnal nor crepuscular. It is only active during the day time.
