I took my son for a drive one day in January when we lived in Alaska. It was one of the warmest winters in Alaskan history with temps in the 50's and low 60's and, when we reached the ocean and Turnagain Arm, which is typically frozen and snow covered, we discovered free moving water, bare ground and snow hardly covering the mountain peaks in the distance.
