I'm not sure if this is too micro a focus, but I've always been fascinated by tree sap. The way it is sticky and flexible yet also hard and crystal like and also the depth of colors it can hold. Not to mention how odd it looks to see a tree "bleed". I saw a tree with a missing limb "bleeding" and catching the sun light and when I got closer saw the husk of a cicada stuck in the sap. It seemed appropriately strange, the empty husk of a creature caught in the "blood" of a tree shining in the sun.
