Edit Photo Details Black-capped Chickadee with caterpillar
I happened to look out my computer room window to the front yard when this Black-capped Chickadee was foraging through a small bush about 8 feet away. It inserted its beak into a curled leaf pulling out a caterpillar. I got several photos of the Chickadee's technique. The last one is with the head back, beak open, and the caterpillar going "down the hatch."
