These sandhill cranes were in Crex Meadows State Wildlife Preserve near Grantsburg, Wisconsin. They make a special sounds that you can hear from afar, even if you cannot see them in the tall grasses that surround the wetlands here. They are migratory birds some of which probably nest in the area or not far from it.
