I was up on the mountain in the state of Santa Catarina, south of Brazil, waiting for darkening time to photograph the Milky Way when I saw this Araucaria tree standing out in the woods. This lonely Araucaria tree under the Milky Way represents the agony of the species, which is under real danger of extinction due to intense logging. On the other hand, the light in the background, represents the light of hope in humans in the still possible recovery of the Araucárias!
