In Whitefish Dunes State Park, the pine trees, planted over 30 years ago were becoming too dense. So, about seven years ago the pines were thinned. Slowly, with the new sunlight, ferns and isolated trees began to grow. Here, among the pines with Autumn leaves brilliant yellow, one newbie spreads her branches.
