This Pumpkin Mum?
In the late afternoon as the sun was setting we went pumpkin-picking just outside the city of York in England. The poet John Greenleaf Whittier (born in Massachusetts in 1807) wrote the poem "The Pumpkin" in 1850.I found it was very appropriate for this time of Season: "Oh! - fruit loved of boyhood! - The old days recalling, When wood grapes were purpling and brown nuts were falling! When wild, ugly faces were carved in it`s skin, Glaring out through the dark with a candle within!"
