Edit Photo Details The Famous Perky Bat Tower   #florida #tower #keys #bat #sugarloaf_key
I've read about the Perky Bat Tower for years and I finally got to actually see it in Sept. 2016. In 1929 a man named Perky built this structure to house bats, which are famous for eating mosquitoes. Unfortunately, after placing many bats in this "home" they all flew away, and never returned. Bad news! This tower was blown down in 2017 by hurricane Irma. It is now horizontal.
