This image was taken moments after a 7 day old Jewish baby girl had received her Hebrew name in the Gardens Shul, in Cape Town, South Africa. Surrounded by her father, grandfathers and Rabbis, she is held in a communal embrace. The purpose of the ceremony is to recognise and celebrate the arrival of a child and welcome her in the family and circle of friends.
