This shot was taken at Olana, a State Historic Site and former home of Frederic Church, one of the major figures in the Hudson River School of landscape painting in the late 1800s. The home and beautiful 250-acre designed landscape are essentially unchanged since Church's time there (1870-1900).The State of New York purchased the property from the distant heirs of Church when the last remaining primary heir died in 1964. It's an interesting and beautiful place with a hilltop view of the Hudson.
