Nowadays, thanks to modern medicine, we can outlive our brain. As we get older, our memory can fail us and come tumbling down in a big mixed-up pile. This is the time of our lives where we can no longer recognize our spouse, children, past event etc. Photos are important to remind us of who we are and where we come from. If I was forced to go to Mars, I would definitely pack some pictures with me. Photo done in-camera with second curtain flash to freeze the falling photos.
