It's Turkey Time!
Osceola Turkeys, name after Chief Osceola, is one of the five sub-groups that make their home in the U.S.A. Young turkeys are referred to as “poults”, while a juvenile is known as a “jake”. Adult males are called a “Tom” or a “gobbler” & females are a “hen”. Every male & a few of the females display a beard that hangs from the chest. Females have a blue head, while the male’s head is reddish in color. In the U.S.A. turkeys are a favored food for the 4th Thursday in November.
