State representatives including a police officer take part in the process of transfer of grapes from farmers to wineries. At the soviet times Khvanchkara wine was produced by the local winery. Now agents of big wineries from Tbilisi and Kakheti buy the local grapes and produce remotely the wine under Khvanchkara brand name.
