A high pressure weather system had brought frost and stillness over Ireland this week. For me it was the call to go to Glendalough National Park. The lower lake on arrival, pre dawn was a picture of serenity, not a breath of wind, the mirror lake reflecting the tree line which had taken on a purple hue with the frost. I stood there and thought of St Kevin and the monks who founded the monastery in the valley over 1,400 years ago and I said to myself, they sure picked their spot!
