The ghost of an invasive alien snail that is a major threat to plant regeneration in New Zealand. The brown Cornu aspersum effects indigenous biodiversity through selective feeding on foliage of herbaceous plants and the seedlings of a range of native species. It is one of many introduced terrestrial molluscs carrying a range of parasites and pathogens. With increasing contact between the alien and indigenous species, there is potential for transmission to our native fauna.
