Road trips are finicky beasts and it's amazing how quickly an itinerary can get off track. I had planned to spend the last 3-4 hours of daylight in the Rockies that day but instead barely made it with any sunlight left. I raced my affectionately named 'Gypsy the Adventure Terrain' up the mountain ignoring signs that it would be closing soon and when I got to the highest overlook I could feasibly reach I ran around furiously to create a good shot. I'm so glad that I didn't arrive any earlier.
