The Digger
The current drought in Southern Africa has hit the wildlife in Namibia particular hard. The Oryx is normally adapted to the unforgiven arid desert conditions, but this year there has been hardly something to eat or dig. Oryx means in Greek “to dig” and they dig holes to eat the roots of plants. The Oryx’s on this picture are dependent on fodder donated to them and the wild horses of Aus in Namibia. This picture was taken from Eagle’s View near Aus at sunset with the dunes of the Namib Desert..
