Burrowing Owls are an interesting bird. Instead of nesting up high in trees, they actually dig holes in the ground and live underground. The area where I visited in Florida had several owls. Some in small family groups, some by themselves. The interesting part is they aren't in a remote location. They are actually right in the middle of a park and ball field. They aren't afraid of humans and were quite cooperative posing for pictures.
