We had a bout of freezing rain followed by unforgivingly frigid temperatures this past weekend. One of my favorite sights and also one that I find the hardest to photograph, is when the sun finally does come out and the ice on the trees and leaves sparkles like diamonds. I never seem to get the full magnitude of the overall glittering display. But I persist in photographing it and I do get some otherwise pretty shots of a smaller scale, like this leaf with drops frozen into glistening icicles.
