This photograph was taken on the black sands found in the village of or Vík í Mýrdal in full. Vik is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the main ring road around the island.
The photograph features the Reynisdrangar which are basalt sea stacks situated under the mountain Reynisfjall near the village of Vík
Legend has it that the stacks formed when two trolls unsuccessfully dragged a three-masted ship to land and when daylight broke they became needles of rock.
