The Purple Sandpiper (Kalidris)
The purple Sandpiper or as the Greeks call this bird Kalidris named by Aristotle. The Sandpiper isn grayish in the winter with a little purple gloss, not a very common sighting. The Purple Sandpiper breeds in Arctic waters and in Iceland.
