The road to Grand Ilet, as are many inland roads in Reunion, is very twisty and winding, and consequently it takes a long time to negotiate. However, the journey is worthwhile, as the views are great. Once you have reached the village, the only way out is to return the same way you came, as the only other roads are ones that provide access to dwellings deep in the valley below.
