    Gandikota on the bank of the river Pennar is in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is known for huge rock formations resembling that of Gradn Canyon. Gandikota acquired its name due to the 'gorge' (in Telugu it is called 'gandi'), formed between the Erramala range of hills and the river Pennar.
