Crissal Thrasher
A typically secretive bird, the Crissal Thrasher spends its days feeding on the ground in thick desert scrub, thrashing and probing leaf-litter for its mostly invertebrate diet. It pops up occasionally to sing from exposed perches, but with patience staking out good habitat can turn up some confiding birds like this individual at Elephant Butte State Park, New Mexico.
