Monarch
Monarchs stream through North America on a spectacular fall migration that takes the butterfly's eastern populations on an up to 3000 mile journey. The fall migrants emerge as adults just before heading south in the northern United States and Canada in reproductive diapause. Breeding urges stay hidden while on their wintering grounds, reemerging in spring for the multigenerational northward migration.
