    Reported by:

A Maiko, or an apprenticing Geisha, in the heart of the Gion district of Kyoto, Japan. It is evident that the girl dressed in normal everyday clothing is most likely the 'younger sister' of the beautifully dressed Maiko, as she is carrying the Maiko's belongings. Younger sister is a figurative term in Japan, given to the girls who study from practicing Maiko or Geisha until they are ready to become Maiko themselves.
