I am the only female volunteer they have had in the village, previous volunteers have been men. On my first visit the women chanted out "Jenkay Jarju oolali!" which means "Jenkay Jarju is ours!". They are very excited to get their voices and needs heard and to teach me. Here they are celebrating the conclusion of cooking for the days meals by dancing in a large circle with the DJ playing dance music for us. All the meals are given out in communal bowls and everyone in the village eats together.
