There is 1 thing I always look for when trying to decide whether to photograph a sunrise or sunset and that is the formations of the clouds, not so much the color, as that is a bonus to a beautiful sunset! Sunrises and sunsets are kind of like rainbows, you always want to see 1 and you hope you do, but you never know whether you will or not and when a gorgeous sunset appears, you need to make sure you are there to document it and as long as I am breathing, my eyes will always be to the sky!
