A trip to Antarctica to see the Emperor Penguins is a risky business; not only is it costly, there is also a real possibility that you just won't see them. On our trip, the Weddell Sea ice was magnificent, but made an impenetrable barrier between us and the colony we were aiming for. So you can imagine that the whole ship was pretty excited when this little guy popped up on the ice next to us! I'd love to go back and try again!
