The last cormorant.
As a light rain began to fall, we observed this lone cormorant that had found the only perch for miles around in Tampa Bay. Seeing this single bird in a vast landscape made me realize the importance of protecting our fragile habitats and wildlife from extinction.
This just feels like the calm before the storm. I love the dark brooding sky overhead. Usually for strong compositions you won't want to just center the subject in the middle of the frame, but for this image it's very strong and works well.
