Old mining claims are readily available to buy in Colorado. But to find one with a still-standing mining cabin is very rare. 1884 is the date which is scratched on the doorframe of the remote mining cabin that I was hoping to buy. The rich, mahogany-colored wood that you see here caught my eye almost before my feet hit the ground. This beautifully weathered wood comprises a triangular vertical section above the lintel, just over the door. This is one of my favorite photographs ever.
