A lone Eurasian tree sparrow plays temporary sentinel atop one of the many burial stone slabs belonging to the soldiers who lost their lives in WWII in Singapore at the Kranji War Memorial. Amid the quietness, sporadic chirps of garden birds foraging for food and the occasional muted howl of the passing wind, all is serene... a fitting resting place for the war dead who paid the price for our peace.
