On my way home from photographing combat in Ukraine, I had a twelve hour layover in Amsterdam. I decided it would be a waste to stay in the terminal that whole time. I had a broken foot so I couldn't walk more than two blocks, but I was able to catch the train directly from the airport to downtown where I managed to take some photos on the street. Because it was just after midnight and there were not many people on the street, I decided to photograph the bicycles.
