A riot of colour
Traditional Indonesian fishing boats tied up in the old Sunda Kelapa inner harbour result in a riot of colour with their reflections in the water and the old houses and laundry behind. The Sunda Kingdom was a Hindu kingdom located in western Java from 669 to 1579; Sunda Kelapa harbour was the main port of the Sunda Kingdom, located along the Tarum (Citarum) River, It was greatly expanded into a ship docking area during the Dutch colonial era in the 17th century when the pinisi were developed.
